Training Sessions

Komodo Paddle Club train on the Lake Burley Griffin and depart from the Grevillea Park, Menindee Dr.

Our training sessions are designed to suit all levels of ability and fitness, from absolute beginners to advanced paddlers chasing representative honours.

Komodo believes the fastest way to learn is by modelling other paddlers. We don’t separate or segregate our new members. You will paddle along side an experienced paddler who will help you get the most from your training session.

In addition to on water training, we also run boot camps and use the pool of professional trainers in the club to help provide input to gym programs to develop paddle fitness.

Training times

The racing season covers the entire calendar year, so we are always on the water training no matter what time of year. Between April and September we typically reduce the training schedule due to the cold.If you are new to paddling, we suggest that our Sunday sessions would be the best time to comePlease make sure you arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the arrival times listed to help prepare the boats, this will also give us time to run you through the warm up.

Our training times vary throughout the season, so be sure to check frequently for the latest times. Sessions last around 1 hour.

Our regular club training sessions are:

  • Tuesday mornings – 5.30am arrival
  • Wednesday afternoons – 5:30pm arrival
  • Friday mornings – 5:30am arrival
  • Sunday mornings – 9:00am arrival for regular club training
